This is our entry level course to North West End Acting School (AH1 – Acting for Theatre & Film). You will be dipping your toes in the water with techniques and styles of acting that we believe are vital for your learning. You will finish the course with a tool box of techniques and approaches to acting. This course is suitable for people with little to no acting experience.
The course starts by looking at a technique called 'Actioning'. What are you trying to do to the other person? We use simple exercises to understand this technique which we then apply to basic, short, accessible scripts. With this knowledge we then look at the first ever practitioner of acting – Stanislavski. We ask the question – What is my objective? We apply this technique again to very simple duologue scripts. Now the can of worms is firmly open we continue to explore further into other practitioners, exercises and text gaining momentum at every turn.
Acting is not just reading lines from a page. The life of an actor is developing every skill and every part of the body that they will need when working on a performance. Some of the skills we look at in entry level are – stage combat, improv, movement and voice.
Our guest tutors for these skills are – Kaitlin Howard, David Escobedo, Joseph Callaghan and Ciaran Kellgren.
